The economy was starting to go into recession, so he changed policy. What do you think he should have done? Do you think one economic policy works for a while?

He should have continued what Cliinton's people were doing. It was the greatest economic success in recent memory. See the link below. Instead, they used our economy for the personal profit making of themselves and their many friends, including the war in Iraq, where the plundering continued but on a larger scale.

It's largely the Fed's responsibility to counteract recessions by lowering interest rates, but I don't think Bush should have cut taxes. Instead, he should have used the money to reduce the national debt. However, in his defense, when he did cut taxes, there is no way he could have foreseen the military conflict in the Middle East, Katrina, or the need for a Homeland Security department.

I don't really remember him chaging policy... cutting taxes isn't changing policy, it's just cutting taxes...

and the war has helped some...

I would have liked to see him keep up education funding and keep college loan rates low... I would also like him to lay down some more trade rules with both China and Mexico...

1. Eliminate our current system of graduated income tax and replace it with a flat tax with exemptions for poverty level wage earners.

2. Eliminate all other forms of taxes.

3. Eliminate the welfare system by gradually handing over poverty relief and worker's compensation to private companies.

4. Privatize social security (which, of course, he tried to do but was thwarted by liberal obstructionists).

5. Eliminate environmental restrictions based on debunked science.

6. Allow oil companies to drill wherever they find the stuff.

7. Eliminate subsidies to dying industries, spending the money on re-educating their workforces instead.

But instituting tax cuts was a good start.

And shut up with the whole "tax cuts to the rich" garbage. The rich pay most of the taxes in the country, so they will naturally receive the most money back in tax cuts. If you think that's unfair then you're a communist. Immediately move to Cuba.

Cut govt. programs instead of dramatically increasing them, balanced the budget, and had tax cut for everyone (not just the rich).
