Hi bluesharpman,
Cut, Copy, and Paste works almost the same way on the Mac as on a Windows PC. Just hold onto the left mouse button as you drag across the text, highlighting it. Let off on the mouse and go up to the Edit > Copy menu command, or you can use the Command + C keyboard short cut. The command key is on either side of the space bar with the Apple logo and the picture of the cloverleaf.
This puts the text in the computer's RAM memory in something called the clipboard. Now you can go into any other computer program. Click inside and then up to the Edit > Paste menu command, or use the Command + V keyboard shortcut.
I like using TextEdit which is a simple, basic text editor that I keep on the dock for easy access. You can copy and paste back and forth all that you want. If you want to copy all of the text in your word processor, just use the Edit > Select All menu command, or use the Command + A keyboard shortcut. This selects all the text all at once, so that there's no need to drag through all the text. Then you can copy the text.
Learn how to use this, bluesharpman, and this will speed up all of your computer work and it's great for posting on here. :-) The best thing about using your text editor is that it does the spell-checking for you. Best of luck to you.

Are you more of a copy-paste person or a cut-paste person? I'm more of s cut-paste person unless I need to make a backup or the source is read-only. 3 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. COPY PASTE

Highlight desired text
Hold down your CTRL button and press C or V or X depending if you are copying, cutting or pasting.
Practice it and you'll have it down in no time.
If you prefer, use the menu on the top of your browser to do this - it also shows you the same shortcut keys I pointed out (Under the Edit menu usually).
