i own a repair shop,and the easiest way to find out for sure whats causing this,,is t have it scanned,auto zone has a free service on this and they can tell you probably whats causing this to happen that's the cheapest way to get a good answer for this one,,good luck i hope this help,s.,,have a good x-mas.

I'd check the IAC or Idle Air Control valve on the intake

Is your check engine soon light on? If so, take it to a local auto parts store (Advance, Autozone) and get it checked for free. It may be a sensor (TPS). If not, you may have sticking throttle linkage.

IF there is no vacuum leak...might be the idle air control....have seen these on Ferds go bad.
