My daughter is 7 months old and tonight during her bath I noticed that her belly button is looking raw, like it did right after the stump fell off. She is scoot pretty good and is doing alot of "fast rocking" getting ready to start crawling, so I was wondering if it might have been rubbed raw against her clothes or diaper, or if it could be from her growing and the skin pulling on that area, or if it could be an infection of some type?

Your theory sounds good, but if it is really worrying you, I'd give the pediatrician a call. They may be able to answer your question over the phone without you needing to make a trip.

Worth a try. :o)

My baby's gets like that. If I am vigilant and keep cream on it and fold the diaper down then it doesn't. If I am diapering a squirming baby on the go and only do the cream once in awhile it comes and goes.

My personal rule is: if it smells really bad even after you bath him, it is an infection and put something antibiotic on it (breastmilk, polysporin) if it doesn't smell diaper cream is fine. If it doen't look better with 3 days of CONSISTANT treatment see a doc.

Maybe it would be best to take your daughter to the pediatrician to check it out.

If you can turn the diaper down before you fasten it on both sides to let the belly button breathe. Put a tiny bit of Neosporin on it too to keep it from becoming more infected.

Hope this helps.

God Bless....

Could be she is discovering it and poking it when she can and you haven't noticed.Try something antibacterial on it, as it could be a slight infection. If it is it will have an odor .Like peroxide on a cotton ball but BLOW on it and not too often.......or it may just be the diaper.
As long as thier is no swelling and odor it is ok just to watch it until your next Dr visit.
Good Luck

it sounds like a trip to the doctor or child health nurse wouldnt hurt to have it ckecked. until then i would try a bit of antiseptic cream and see if that helps.
