Christmas is the sweetest time in Jamaica. Apart from the mad rush near to christmas eve ( which I suppose happens everywhere) there is definately that "Christmas-y" feeling in the air, in the breeze and on everyone's face. If you drive around Kingston at this time at night, not only the stores and shopping plazas have decorations with lights, but also many homes get into the spirit of putting up these little lights in the most elaborate ways-wrapping them around their palm trees in their yards, or using the icicle lights to line the roofs around their houses.
Although some carry it to the extreme, the displays are always lovely to look on.

Ofcourse, there is no snow but the temperature at this time of the year is usually cool (to me, anyway, where I live.)

And like most people said: it is a very festive season, with lots of delicious food and family gathering to reflect on all the good things we have in the good times and the bad.

Christmas is special to all of us.

Christmas in Jamaica is a festive, family, food oriented season just like it is in other christian countries. People are relaxed and happy and there is a party everyday. The temperature is also warm so u can go to the beaches and enjoy the season.

Christmas is a wonderful time in Jamaica. It is when our culture is displayed to an extent. We usually have a drink called sorrel which is a must have for the season. Christmas dinner usually includes gungo peas & rice, any meat of your choice, vegetables, ham and a tall glass of sorrel. As is customary in most places we also have Christmas trees and lights along with different types of decorations. During the Christmas season some employers give their staff a "bonus" which is extra money along with their salaries. We also have lots of parties to ensure we enjoy ourselves to the fullest.
