I recently had a baby. It has been two months, and now that I am able to have intercourse again, I was wondering if you could answer something for me. Right now, I am indecisive about what I want to do about birth control. I don't know if I want to go on the pill...and if I do, which pill? Also...I don't know if I want to go with using condoms?? My question is: In the meantime, if I have sex 1 to 2 days after I finish my period (without using condoms that is), what are the chances of getting pregnant?? Is it too risky?

Did you just finish your PERIOD or your postpartum bleeding? If you finished your period, if you already had sex, you're probably fine, but if you haven't, use a condom... you just don't know when you ovulate (unless you chart temps and use ovulation prediction tests).
If you just finished post partum bleeding, you could ovulate at any time, and I would suggest condoms.
Suggestions would depend on if you are breastfeeding-- if you are, make sure you get a pill designed for nursing women. If you aren't, you're free to use whatever you feel comfortable using.
After my first child, I went on birth control pills immediately after my first period. After my second child, I did a lot more research, and decided that hormonal birth control wasn't for me, and we're currently using Fertility Awareness Method (and using condoms when I am fertile). Before anyone assumes-- FAM is NOT the same as the calender method.
Good luck finding something that will work with you and your family, and congratulations on the new baby.

Yes it is very risky to try and use the "rhythm" method after pregnancy. After you give birth, your cycle will take some time to regulate itself again. (like sevreal months time) So there is no way of telling when you are going to ovulate or anything and the cycle isn't going to be predictable for a few months. I would just use condoms until you decide what method you want to use.

You are so fertile after having a baby. Use some form of birth control. Or you'll have 2 babies in 9 months!

Talk to your doctor for a recommendation, but I will tell you that not using birth control at all is putting you at risk for another pregnancy no matter what time of the month it is.
