I assume these are fractions

First, factor tops and bottoms so you can see what cancels out
Trick: factor the shorter ones, then check if the longer ones have the same factor in common

2(x - 3)
-------------
(x - 3)(x + 6)

So when you cancel out (x-3) you have left

x + 6


(2p - 5)(2p + 5)
--------------------
(-1)(2p - 5)

So cancel out (2p - 5) to leave

2p + 5
--------
-1

same as

-2p - 5

Check your work.
Pretend x = 1 and see if the original
equation and the final equation come out the same value

Repeat, using p = 1 for
the second problem
