The official autopsy gave stomach cancer as the cause of death. Apparently this could have been hereditary. Levels of arsenic found in samples of his hair suggest that such a dose if ingested would have been fatal long before his actual demise. The presence of arsenic is probably due to external sources (wallpaper?..hair tonic??) rather than direct ingestion. The treatments of that time administered for his supposed syphilis would have probably hastened his demise.

He died in exile from an illness. Many people believe he was poisoned, but I'm not sure if that's actually been proven. A while back, some scientists studied a sample of his hair to see if they could detect anything, but I don't know what the results were.

Napoleon was poisoned with arsenic in his wine and food by one of his alledged supporters. Not sure why? His hair was tested and was found to contain traces of arsenic, meaning he had being poisoned gradually over a length of time.
His body was also exumed at some point and was not decomposed, another sign of arsenic poisoning.
