y = seven fifths x - 2 (-5/7)

y = - x fifths - 7 (5)

2x = 3y = 5 (-3/2)

y = -8 (1/0)

y = 2x ( -1/2)

y = -3x (1/3)

Pete - The perpendicular is the negative inverse of the given slope. So, force what you have into the "y = mx + b" foremat and invert the "m". Don't panic: "y = -8" is "y = 0x + {-8})" That is a horizontal line at 8 units below the x-axis. (And there is no specific solution for its perpendicular as it could be any value of x... and it is really tough to do division with zeros! "y = -3x" is just "y = -3x +0": That means that you have a line sloping down to the right, passing through the origin with a slope of -3. The perpendicular has a slope of 1/3.

The slope of a perpendicular line is the negative reciprocal of the slope of the first line.

y = 7/5x -2, reciprocal slope = -5/7

y = -x fifths - 7, can only say that the answer is positive. don't know what "fifths" is.

3x=3y=5 is not a line

y = -8 is horizontal, perpendicular line is vertical, slope is infinite

y = 2x, -0.5

y = -3x, 1/3

I'm not going to answer them all.

It's an easy question, though.

The slope of each equation is the number in front of x.

So for the first one, the slope is 7/5.

The slope of a perpendicular line is the "negative reciprocal". That means either flip it (if it's a fraction) or put it underneath 1 (if it's an integer), and then change the sign.

So the answer to the first one is -5/7

My trick for all of these is Change the sign and flip it over.

By flipping it over I mean reciprocal.
