Stars of "Dreamgirls" upstaged by newcomer Hudson
Tuesday December 5 10:22 AM ET

The movie adaptation of the famed Broadway musical "Dreamgirls" stars Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx, chart-topping singer Beyonce Knowles and long-time favorite Eddie Murphy.

But in true show business tradition, an overweight unknown more used to failure than success is stealing the show.

"It's the biggest honor I could possibly get. I'm so grateful," Jennifer Hudson says of the buzz that she may win an Oscar for her Cinderella turn in the role of Effie White.

I was disgusted at the fact that the used words like 'hefty' to describe her character and that the whole article was more about how surprised reuters was at her performance like actors have to be skinny in order to deliver great performances, but lets face it in the line of work that she's in, you have to be certain sizes to look good on screen, not that big isn't beautiful, but the 'heavier' you are, the 'fatter' you look on screen because the camera adds 15 lbs. Beyonce had to lose weight for the role, too. I think thats what the director meant by 'she could cut it for broadway, but not for the big screen'. But, Reuters could have definitely did her more justice. The article in itself was ridicuous and a person's skills should not be determined by how much they weigh.

I agree why does everyone think that fat people and no im not calling her fat are less successful im tired of people acting like its something wrong with having a little meat on their bones and i think its was a good idea to make her the star of dreamgirls and i hope the movie does very well so jennifer can become a big star and show people its nothing wrong with girls that arent a size four. I think that television is to blame because they always put those stick figures in movies or what ever it is and now everyone thinks they are supposed to look like these women on tv and thats not true when in reality these women dont even look the characters they play without make so yeah i was very disguisted by this article. theres nothing wromg with overweight people they are human like the rest of us.

I just actually finished reading that same article and I was very confused (not disgusted) by that paragraph.

What matters is Jennifer Hudson NAILS "And I Am Telling You." Jennifer Holliday (who originated the role of Effie on Broadway) would be proud. I can't wait to see the movie!
