Because my parents' job moved.

All the kids here seem to already be in cliques. I wanna make friends and hang out, but how do I start doing so?

You are in a difficult situation. Just remember that the year will go by quickly, and soon you will be in college or in a job, and all of those "cliques" will no longer be together. However, to get through the rest of the year, try to make just one friend. Joining a club or getting involved in some kind of activity is the best way to get to know someone. Is there a tutoring program where you can volunteer to tutor someone in a lower grade? Can you get involved in the drama production, if not as an actor, as a set designer or stage hand? Whatever you do, don't try too hard -- that usually scares people away. Just take it one day at a time, be friendly but not overly friendly, join at least one club or activity, and I think you will make a friend. That friend might then invite you to meet other friends. Remember, you only have 5 more months to go, so don't get too upset over it.

That is a hard year to move! I would suggest you just be friendly to everyone and do not worry about getting in a clique, you will be off to college/working in a year! I would start by talking to people that sit by you in class and maybe consider joining a club that interests you.

First just be yourself. Find a person or people who is in most of your classes, maybe like 3 or 4 classes, that way you would have something in common to talk about. Find someone who has the same characteristics as you. Start a conversation by asking some questions about school or something like that.

I went to THREE different high schools in my senior year (Navy brat), I just tried to be friendly, say hi to people that smiled at me, made small talk before class started about certain assignments, or asked someone in class "how a certain teacher was or graded".Same at lunchtime, go to a table with a few people (or more if you want) ask if "this seat is empty" and join them! Good luck & have fun!
