This is a 4-pipe, 3 shader 64-bit video card.

This is not a bad card for the $$$ but it will not run modern 3D games higher than 800x600 (maybe 1024x768) because the 64-bit memory access will limit the speed of the card at higher resolutions.

The 6600 is a 8 pipe card (as is the 9700/9800, some 6800's)

You have to understand something... your system is only going to run as fast as the slowest part. If your CPU, video card or memory do not match the other parts of your system will just spin their wheels so it's hard to recommend a blanket end-all be-all video card without knowing what you will be using it for and what the rest of your system looks like.

Unless you are really short of cash I would not recommend any 4-pipe video card and NEVER NEVER but one of those crap "FX" cards.

My recommendations for bare minimal cards:

x700/800, 9800, 6600 or any card with 8 or more pixel pipelines.

128-bit (not meg LOL) should be the minimal.

Now if you are going to put this into an old system and gameplay will be minimal then you cannot get a better card for the $$$ than the 6200 (I have this card in two of my systems) but for $20-30 more you can get an 8-pipe card that you will be much happier with.

Right now Newegg has a 6800 XT (512 MB DDR2 RAM) with a memory band width of 256 (the 6200 is only 128 bandwidth) and to top it off it is an AGP card as well for only $109.00 which has a mail in rebate of $10.00 which equals only $99.00. This maybe the last year you can get an AGP card that can do what a 6800 can do as PCI extreme is the wave of the future. I am not trying to make fun of the card you want to get but the 6800 smokes the 6200 and you will be able to play that latest games with this baby. Think about it and go to Newegg and check it out.

I have one and it will run most games like BF2 but only on lowest settings (lowest amount of graphic effects) I would recommend a better card:

The link above is to a 7600GS and some others at good prices

more advantageous suited from the manufactuer, although nvidia reference drivers are frequently sturdy, each and every so often the manufactuer gained't write the drivers besides, yet a minimum of in the journey that they follow nvidia reference desing they could't screw up the drivers too a lot
