Start with the Open University -almost all their work is in distance learning. They also credit "life experience" (this may/may not apply to you) but they'd probably be helpful in sorting where you could get your missing modules.

OU is a good option but look at the brick-and-mortar universities in the UK as well. Many of them offer online programs now.
As for your visa situation, I am not aware of any visa which denies you the right to study. It is true that some do not qualify you for US financial aid, which is a problem, for sure. You might benefit from a discussion with an immigration attorney.
If you decide to pursue a degree in the USA, there are plenty of options. You will, however, need to have your prior coursework evaluated and that does not come cheap. Having said that, if you are intending to reside in the USA permanently, you might consider it worth the expense to have a degree from a regionally-accredited US insitution.
Transitioning your education from UK to US can be hard. I'm in the midst of it all now. Explore your options and ask questions until you get answers you understand. Do not give up.

A friend of mine, who could be charitably described as a lazy little sh*t, spent six years at university before his parents finally pulled the financial plug, and he had to get a job, and is now finishing his degree through the open university, and he has been able to consolidate all his credits from the two proper universities he went to and is now learning at his own pace
you would need to fly back for a week or so forexams and stuff, but essays etc are submitted by post, a lot of employers are less snobbish about open university degrees, expecially if you spin them a line about having to drop out due to financial pressures,as a lot have started to realise that with the cost of going to university these days, its no longer as easy as it used to be

I that if you start a degree with a 'normal' university and then have to drop out for any reason, you can finish your degree through the Open University. A couple of people I know finished their degrees that way, because of family/financial problems.
The Open University will let you pay the fees of in monthly instalments - that is what I am doing.

I would say Open U is the best option.
But I must give you a bit of a tease. Before beginning in the old days they would ask if you'd had your bum cained for being a miscreant!
LOL I can say that because I have done my share too. But now on with my second Master's!
All the luck to you, Mate!

Hi, I tried to do part of my degree by reading notes, emails etc when I was too poorly to come into college, however, it didn't' work and I had to resit my exam. I would thoroughly recommend attending all of the lectures if it is feasible if not then go with the OU but they may not automatically accept all of your credit as it may not match up with their modules.

Try on line courses. University of Phoenix come to mind. I use Queen's University in Kingston. They all have on line support and can answer most questions and straighten you out.
