I don't know about that, maybe in military battles. but if you have ever had a personal battle that became huge and won it probable wore you out to much to bask in the glory.

There is no glory in battle; I've been there. It's the absolute sh*ttiest thing you'd ever do . General Sherman was right when, in 1880 and speaking to a class of military academy graduates he said the following: "There is many a boy here today who thinks that war is all glory, but boys, it is all hell!" This was the General Sherman who marched through Georgia to the sea during the American Civil War, literally burning everything in his path. Even today, the part of that state is known as "the burnt-over district".
War sucks, honey, it just sucks. I wish I'd never had to do the godawful things I did, though I did it for my country and would do it again if I had to. But god curse those fools in Washington for getting us into unjust and immoral wars like the one in Iraq! May they rot in the sewers of Hades!

No it is not somtimes the greater the battle the deeper the scars, and as we all know some scars never heal completely.
