No, that was an ancient Greek thing, where an older wealthy man would take a young boy to be his "protege."
And when you say Arabs, you cover a lot of different people with differing traditions.

No. But in all cultures, particularly in our western culture, a large number of first time experiences are with one's buddies. A study back in the 80's claimed that 80% of college kids in America have had at least 1 homosexual experience growing up! Go figure.

Still, in the Arab culture (Moslem or Christian) homosexual (or bisexual) activity does go on among males. Very few Arab men are open about it though. See:

Arabs are muslim and muslims are against homosexuality. They would kill (literally) if they had one sex relation with another man.
