"Recept" came from the Latin rootword "recipere",meaning "to receive" though its past participle form "receptum". It is a psychological word in nature meaning "a mental image of an external object, formed by the repetition of the same precept, which then enforced common characteristics in a person. From that rootword we also got the words: "receptacle", meaning anything taht serves as a place to contain or hold/keep other things, "reception" meaning a formal social entertainment fo guests or a group of people, such as wedding reception" which is a person employed to receive callers, or calls, provide information, make appointments, etc. , at the entrance to an office. , and of course, "receipt", meaning a written proof of receiving something from somebody else.
