I agree. I love my dog. I would never leave him out in the cold. He sleeps under the covers with me and keeps my feet warm! People that abuse animals like that should not be allowed to have pets. Yes I think leaving your dog out in 30 degree wetaher is abuse. If you see someone doing that constantly you should call animal control. I would. Yes fluffy furry dogs like huskies like the outdoors, that is why their owners should take them out and play with them outside, not just tie them up and leave them out their to be bored out of their mind in the cold.

If it's all a dog has ever known, I don't think it's cruel.
But if you were to keep a dog inside for a number of years and then force them to live outside, that would be cruel because they wouldn't be used to the weather conditions.
My dogs are outside dogs but we let them come onto the back porch to sleep, eat and drink water. We also have a heater on the porch so they can stay warm in the winter.
The only things I consider cruel are when I see a dog on a chain with no food or water in the severe heat or cold. Or if a dog is severely underweight .. things like that.

Certain breeds of dogs are natural outdoors type animals. For example, a German Shepard is a large outdoor dog as are many others like it. But the frail poodle or Lhasa toy dogs are specifically for indoor lives. People that try to keep huge dogs inside are just asking for the animal to go nuts. Just as if you kept a Lhasa outside all the time it would freak out too. Remember dogs have been bred over the centuries to perform specific functions like herding sheep or being a pocket pet.

I have two outdoor dogs and they are perfectly happy. When dogs were first around do you think they were kept inside and pampered?
NO, they were called wolves and they lived off the land no one kept them inside or fed them or anything.
Many decent people have outdoor dogs and love them very much, you just don't see the scientifics and heritage that come in with all of this. Also, most dogs were always big and self dependent and now there are all of these freak breeds that cant do crap except lay down and drool allover themselves. Yes those worthless small dogs should be kept inside because outside they'd be two stupid to survive.

Lots of dogs are outside dogs. But yes, they need love and attention also. People like the "idea" of having a dog, much more then the effort of having a dog.
Dont get pets until you own.

Dogs lived outside for centuries. Actually keeping them outside in hot weather is tougher on most dogs than outside in cold weather (I live in the south). Remember they wear fur coats year round. My dogs prefer to be outside, yes they really like it when a person is outside with them.

that's ridiculous. some dogs enjoy the outside, especially if you have several dogs and they can run together. to the chic below me, you dumbass, certain dogs are outdoor dogs! of course you shouldnt keep a miniature poodle outside, but they are freakin animals, hello. i have an outside dog where i rent my house and he is perfectly happy. i have a picket fence so he cant get in the road, but he plays all day. i would never want him inside though. he was born outside, and has lived outside for the 2 years before i got him. so if i took him inside, how do you think my place would look? besides, my landlord wouldnt allow it anyway. people these days are just to animal conscious. not everything is abuse. you people must have poorly behaved dogs because you would be to afraid to lay a hand on them if they misbehaved. and parky.. i love your answer!

I agree. Keep in mind these are the same people who have kids they don't want and don't take care of. People who can't take care of themselves should not be allowed to have possession of any other living thing.
