yes they can be very unhealthy. Too much of some vitamins can be lethal

Like like just about everything....to much of anything can become harmful for your health. One multi vitamin tablet a day should be just fine. Having too many vitamins in your system at one time can become poisenous.

No, it can actually be toxic and cause various body systems to shut down. You need to stay in the appropriate ranges daily. In some extreme cases of deficiency , a physician may prescribe a very high dose to get your levels where they need to be, but I would definitely caution using too much.

You can OD on vitamins that dissove in oils and fats (Vit A and E)
Any excess water soluable vitamins will be disposed of by the body.
(Also, excess vit. C will give you diarreah)
