If you are a turkish, you know why we have problems.
Your planes get into our territory illegally everyday. In Cyprus you got in,illegally in 1974 etc.The true reason is different. We have totally different cultures.I believe that most of the greeks are really cultured and most of the turkish are not.You would like to be like us but you can't.
Ryana(or something) you should feel sorry about yourself that the americans use you for passing the oils from the middle east to west.Last year noone from the european community wanted you in Europe(the reason is simple, you are not european and you will never be,you are asians from mogolia) but Contoliza(your friend from west) sent you the message "Don't worry,we are with you" Why do you believe that americans help you?Do you believe that they love you because you are nice people?
No,they just use you.
But you don't get help only by americans, there are more who help you.
Greece is alone in this world, it has only enemies since ancient years. But,a lot of nationalities came and then went away.Greece and Greeks survived as always because culture, sciences and art can not die.The problem is yours but you don't know it!Or do you?

There is aproblem and the problem is that in both countries we learn a different kind of history for the same events abd that results in hatred between the two. What i've learned from my greatgrondmother is that for as long as Greece was under captivity by the Turks many terrible things happened. They were kidnapping the young children, trained them to become soldiers and changed their religion to Islam and then when they were about 16 years old were taken back to kill their own families believing that themselves were Turks. They closed all the schools because they believed that education will bring freedom and the kids were going to secret schools in caves in the middle of the night not to be overheard. This is how the Greek civilisation survived all these 400 years, because of Greeks will and this is we are a bit too easily offended when people talk in bad way about Greece, as we suffered so much to gain our freedom and religion. All these stories were not learned from books but from people that actually were there at the time. But i am sure that the Turks never listen about these stories as we never listen about their stories and that makes our problems worse.
Another problem is Cyprus. The Turks are right to judge the Greek goverment at that time but they forget something important. That goverment was not a goverment elected by the Greek people, we had a dictator at that time and many Greeks were killed to bring democracy back again. Cyprus to us it's Cyprus not Greece. We support it but we see it as a different country whether Turks want the island to belong to them or this is what we have understood.
About the goverments, in Greece the general belief is that Turkish goverment is using the US's support to make demands that are not legal. But then again as i've seen in the answers many Turks believe that Greek goverment has the problem. So as you see you cannot find out the exact truth!
And ofcourse you just have to check the history and you will see that we had problems with one another for many many many years and these problems cannot be solved ina day or two. But in difficult situations, when Turkey suffered from the destructive earthquakes it was first the Greeks that run over there to help and both countries felt very close to each other and this is what i would like to remember and this is what i would like my kids to think of. Hatred is not the answer.

The answer is Oil. And, no, I've not got this confused with the Arabs. The problem with your turkey is that, if fried, it should have been in light oil; not greece.
Also, there was that story about Hellen. The trojan war almost has to be based on an historical incident between the two regions, that makes for nearly 3000 years of bad history. The Hittite and Sidonians took turns thumping each other when they weren't fighting the Isrealites. The Medo-Persian empire came from there to knock out the Assyrians. The Persians took out the Babylonians. The Ptolemies wasted each other .Then you have the split of the catholic (general\universal) church. Also the invasion of the Moors and the whole Ottoman Empire thing. WWI could be said to have started there. It looks to me that the problem lies within a terrible string of coincidence and gremlin attacks or (but way too logical) the fact that the turkish peninsula is one of the most important strategic locations in the world.
Then again, fowl tastes awful if cooked in too heavy of a greece.

As a Greek i think the only problem is politicians. Any other problems can be solved with dialog. Even Cyprus. The only thing i don't like in Turkey is the lack of democracy. If the Turkish generals stop ruling the country it would be best for both Greeks and Turks.

Greece is the last European country. That means Democracy, middle class, totally free trade and economy, full rights for all the citizens and an income of 25000 usd per capita
Turkey is the First Asiatic country..Political life controlled by the army,,no middle class except the big cities, not stable coin, not full rights for Christians,,income of 4700 usd per capita
The hostility I think is USED by the leading class in Turkey to keep the control That is why they keep the villages in Anatolia in the 19th century I think and hope when Turkey become a full Democratic nation all problems will stop

I think as a Greek that the problem is not only political. If you ask Greeks, most of them(including me of course)will tell you that they don't like Turks coz they are bad and they enslaved us for 400 years, killed our families, burned down our houses and, even though it is in the past, the feeling is the same as it was 585 years ago.I have a Turkish friend who believes that Greeks were thankful when they were under the influence of Turks.WRONG!!All we wanted was our freedom and they just didn't like it.So they did everything possible to reduce our population and vanish us!And as for the girl that said:"I feel sorry for Greeks"....don't be.We are OK and happy the way we are.We have a great country with a great civilization and we just love it.Did I make it clear why we don't like its other?

@Jason darling,you are a little bit confused.
When trojan war happened,I don't know if turks existed and if they did, they were somewhere close to China.
The problem is the difference of the two civilisations.

I haven't got any problems with Greek people, as a Turkish but if u ask politica problems..
The most important is Cypus..Then Turkish people in Greece. They complain about they aren't fine and comfortable in Greece (you know the behaviours of Greek people I think)..And then the other is history I think..I don't make it a problem to communicate but some of them do that..
For example the person who is above of me, didn't reply my friendship offer..I don't know what kind of problems she has with me..
Have a nice day kardeÅ :-)
