Because the national pork and grain feeders got together and recognized a growing boycott of pork products. They saw what happened to the beef industry and the white bread company's in the late 70's thru the 90's and was not going to sit by and loose profits.
They lobbied for war and there you have it.

I hate to be a 'pig in a poke' but it is really Orthodox Christianity that has taken the Ghandi'ish' approach to the vermin plague. When a muslim calls a non-muslim an 'infidel' we are reminded of the origination of racism.

The American government is merely an extremist christian element, like the IRA wing of Sein Fien, for the global fundamentalists with hurt feelings.

I am the Fringe and Islam should not only play but it should also stay in it's own flippin' sandbox.

As I understand it, Islam religion stands for all people being Islamic and they don't respect the rights for people picking and using their own religions. They have no say so over anything. The women are treated like 'has beens" but the men can treat the women the way they want, do what they want, have more than one wife at a time, cut peoples heads off, cut off hands, hate Jews and Christians. Does that answer your question? there is so desire to work among nations to enjoy freedom like the democratic forms of government have. You should read how the US was founded by our forefathers. They didn't go around cutting off heads.

Islam wages war on America! You got it backwards! When you have people chanting death to America and blowing up buildings like on 9/11 you are asking for war! Thats obvious! Why do people feel that America should not defend herself?

America is NOT waging war on Islam! It is waging war on the Radical Islamist (terrorists) but note those who love peace.

Any Muslim (as well as any other religion) is free to practice their faith here.......(Remember Freedom of Religion?!)
