How do you figure the nations best QB, atop almost every statistical chart in the NCAA including passer rating, completion percentage, total offense, and oh ya touchdown passes, gets stiffed for a trip to New York. He is about to become the single season record holder for TD passes in way less attempts than David Klingler( without playing the fourth quarter in about half the games this season). Scouts have said he is better than Brady Quin and Troy Smith, how do you leave him out? Colt Brennan went under the radar out of high school, because he was backup to one Matt Leinart. Tough act to follow huh?

I agree. I guess it's because he usually plays at midnight US time.

Simple. Two reasons a quarterback might rack up really gaudy numbers but not be considered to be great: 1) playing in a pass-happy system, and 2) facing weak competition. Hawaii falls into both categories. So people don't take him very seriously.

People learned their lesson with Andre Ware in 1989 -- he QB'd the run-n-shoot offense at Houston, blew away all the single-season passing records, and won the Heisman. But he never rose above 3rd string in the NFL and everyone soon realized he was just in the right place at the right time to rack up big numbers -- with a new gimmicky offense in a running conference that couldn't defend the pass. Recent Texas Tech quarterbacks have been like that too.

Colt Brennan had hois chance to prove he is Heisman worthy in Hawaii's last game vs the Beavers. He threw 2 td's and 2 int's. The only reason why he is having such a good season is because the only tough team in the WAC is Boise state. NFL teams are now smarter when they draft from Hawaii ever since Timmy Chang aka the Dud.

Wow tr I could not have said it better myself you are absolutely right , and another example is Tommy Chang , the Hawaii QB who had better numbers than Colt Brennan and still holds many NCAA records he was a complete bust in the NFL and is currently unemployed , and he was way better than Brennan !

You are wrong. He is not even going to be a first round pick. No scout would put him ahead of Quinn or Smith and i challenge you to show us the proof that scouts have done that. To answer your question. I bet Quinn and Smith's numbers would be 1000 times better if they played division 1AA or 2A talent all day. Also, if the team passed on every play too. No one east of California has heard of him. Who did he beat. What did his team do this year. Nothing. Wow, now you know why he is not in the running.

Any time you play for Hawaii, you are not going to be a Heisman finalist unless Hawaii finishes undefeated or in the BCS. No matter what your stats are. Sorry.

We all know that Troy Smith will win the award, so why would we want to send Colt all of the way across the country just to lose?

Look at the competition he faces (all I need to say is WAC) compared to Ohio State and Notre Dame.

to me he doesnt deserve to be in the finalists. why you say because his level of competition doesnt match that of what mcfadden or smith or quinn had to endure during their season.
