1/9x=12 YOU NEED ALL THE CONSTANTS ON THE SAME SIDE, SO YOU DO THE OPPOSITE, SINCE IT IS 1/9 TIMES X, YOU DEVIDE THAT ON BOTH SIDES TO GET RID OF IT ON THE FIRST.
x=12/ 1/9
When you divide, you get:
x=108

OK, I am assuming that x is in the numerator (the top) of the fraction.
You have to multiply by the reciprocal of 1/9, which is 9/1. A reciprocal is the inverse of a number where you multiply it to get the answer of 1. The object is to get x by itself, and this will do that.
9/1 * 1/9 * x = 12* 9
1/9 and 9/1 cancel out and you are left with x, which is what you want . Multiply 12 * 9 and you get 108.
x = 108

1/9x = 12
x = 12 / 1/9 ====> 12 x 9/1 ====> 12 x 9
x = 108 <==== the answer!!!!

In this algebra problem, you will have to work backwards.
First, you have to set up the problem as 12=1/9x or whatever way is easier for you...
Anyway, first you have to multiply 9 on both sides. whatever you do on one side you must do to the other. so now you have this:
1x=96.
Then since you have 1times x you must do the opposite and divide 1 by ninety six and you get 96. so x=96!
