Hell yea! Gagne is awesome!

Eric Gagne was awesome for a three year period. It looks like his injuries may never allow him to be a dominate closer ever again. He's like a classic car. They're great because they're nostalgic and there's plenty of sentimental value in them but they always have a problem that needs fixing.

Eric Gagne has Scott Boras as an agent which means he will be overpaid no matter what. That's a huge financial risk if you are any owner. He will command a large contract yet his injuries definitely are a red light. Combined with the Boras factor, the injury risk, and the emergence of Takashi "Sammy" Saito, it's a no brainer for the Dodgers to let Gagne leave.

edit: This offseason, the Dodgers offered Gagne a 4 Million Dollar Contract with the chance to earn another 6 Million in incentives (The Dodgers paid him 10 Million for 2 innings in 2006) and Eric opted that it wasn't good enough for him. It really shows he doesn't care about being a Dodger.

I don't think it would be the Dodgers letting him go, its more of Eric leaving the Dodgers. They have a 4 million Guaranteed on the table with 6 million in incentives. If he has a heart, he'll stay. The Dodgers did pay him more than 15 million to pitch in what, 4 games the last 2 years?

Gange rightfully merits to be boo'd. the l. a. Dodgers provided Gagne a a million 12 months 4 million dollar deal yet he grew to grow to be it down for a more beneficial grant from the Texas Rangers. each and each and every time a participant leaves for additional funds they're suspect to being boo'd upon their go back. Gagne turned right into a good participant yet he left for funds. Comming off surgical operation the dodgers didnt opt to risk that a lot funds on him and it sounds like a good theory. Im a Cardinals fan and that i'm satisfied we cheered Edmonds at the same time as he lower back. He didnt leave because he had to, he became commerce because we felt he be extra perfect off becasue we wasnt gonna be used well-known. i'm up set he went to CHC yet its all busniess.

Players have bounced back from far worse injury. Hell, look at John Smoltz.

Assuming the price is reasonable, I would resign him if I were the Dodgers. Hell, I hope the Phillies could end up with him. He might come at a bargain this season.

keeping gagne would just be yet another monumental mistake from the idiots at chavez ravine. i'm tired of these guys holding onto dead weight year after year. hopefully they wise up and let him walk so he can ruin the dbacks payroll for awhile.

loved him in his prime obviously and he was unstoppable but the dodgers have gotta cut him loose. thanks for the great pitching but that was long ago.

Based on his age and injury history, Gagne is about done as a closer.

im not dodger fan, but i think its time to part with mr DL. saito (did i get the right guy?) is a pretty decent closer, plus im sure they can pick up someone big (manny?) for gagne. i dont think he will pitch to his cy young caliber again.
