Santana has neen using what they call boutique ampslike Rivera and one thats called a Denbo or Dunbo. Frusciante uses some Fender stuff but I'll bet you its blackface tube stuff like a vintage twin or a super reverb. You could buy a couple more Epiphones for what theses amps cost.

keep saving money - you're gonna want more than one amp and more than one guitar. There's no best tone, but many!
Do not buy an amp with electronics built into it! Fender tweed, Vox AC30, Mashall halfstack, mesaboogie triple rectifier.
I know santana live uses multiple amp setups and footswitches to change between them.
If you're on a real tight buget - start with a fender blues jr. tube amp, sounds good at low volumes, portable, about 400.00 us dollars. ps: don't trade amps when you've bought a good one, just save more money!

If you can lay your hands on an old tube style amp they will give you the richest sound. I have a 60's vintage Crown amp that I have played with for many years. Feed the old tube amp into some of the quality audio speakers of today and you have a clean crisp sound no hiss or pop of integrated electronic amps.
FYI, Eric Clapton swears by them.

Can't go wrong with a reliable Fender dual showman or something like that. Frusciante uses Fender stuff.
