im wanting to study gay and lesbian marriage laws but do not know what catagory it falls under, my friend teresa told me to look at West Law or Nexis Lexis, But im not sure what catagory it falls under, is it family law? or what?

I would think it would fall under family law just as any legally married couple would.
Only the State of Massechusets currently has Legal Same Sex Marriage, while New Jersey State Supreme court has ruled that gay marriage is legal the state government has until the end of the year to get it sorted out.
Vermont currently only has Civil Unions which do not afford the same legal rights and protections as legal marriages. Although Federal Law does not officially recognize any Legal same sex marriages or Civil Unions of any state or other nation, therefore prohibiting federal tax and social security status to the same sex partner.
So, if you want to get picky, at the moment, Gay Marriage laws fall under Civil Liberties and Civil Rights Law.
I'd study both if I were you, we have a long way to go before its as common place as opposite gender marriages.

I'm confused...but I'm almost positive that falling under a gay man is probably not going to work in my best interest. No Sapphire, playing with your self is sex with the opposite sex when there not actually there. Unless of course you are fixated on your own sex organ. Then you might as well fall under a gay or lesbian. You know what I mean?

You might want to check the laws of the states that are legalizing gay unions. So far except for South Africa, possibly, Canada, and either Sweden or the Netherlands, there are only civil unions. I don't believe any states have legalized gay marriages. Check out gay related websites for news articles.
