So if the excuse is that they come from a neighborhood of poverty and want to show they are tough,then at least 90% of the people in latin america not only should look like they are constipated,but downright plugged

Let me just answer the question.
Hip-Hop was started in the streets by young black men born & raised in poverty. For other young black men born & raised in poverty. Where we come from the testosterone levels are very high, and all that smiley crap is seen as a sign of weakness. Why are you gonna be smilin' when all your friends and family are dying?
Plus, why would you be smiling if you're talking about living in the hood? What's there to be all smiley about that? The rappers that are rich generally don't scowl as much. I don't see Jay-Z scaring anybody anymore. 50 Cent's not that angry looking anymore, but the dudes on the lower levels are hungry and they're trying to get all of their families and friends out of the hood. I don't care how you slice it, that's a stressful predicament. To have an entire neighborhood depending on to bring them hope is not something to be taken lightly.

If you lived in a ghetto and had at least 2 siblings with gunshot wounds/ dead from gunshots, I'd guess you might have a rapper facial expression too.
They've got quite a lot in common with apes too. Many of their poses look like apes trying to make themselves look bigger. Baggy clothes add points to this effect.
Real tough guys, these rapper dudes.
