Valentine's day is a big one. I used to call it Single Awareness Day. Yuck!

DEFINITELY Valentine's Day -- Being a Long-Term Single, then a short disaster of a marriage to Long-Term Single Parenting, and finally -- This year I become an Empty-Nesting Single -- Valentine's Day is the day when it is VERY OBVIOUS that I stand alone.
It is SO embarassing to go into a restaurant on that day (and I am very tired, so I just go there wanting to get a meal and sit down), and the person seating you automatically writes "2" -- and you have to correct them -- no "1" -- and they give you the LOOK
The LOOK that says "LOSER! Can't Get a Date so you are ONE" Look. It is SO frustrating to have all the other folks there giving me dirty looks when I get seated (because you can ALWAYS find a table for one -- it is ALWAYS open when needed).

My least favorite is Father's Day. I lost my Grandfather, who was basically my Daddy, several years ago.

X-mas. I'd love it if there was a way to stop the commercialization of it, but that'll never happen
