no, before dishing out questions like this you should consider studying the reasons women wear Burqahs (not sure that's how you spell it). Women wear them because people believe a man should love a women for what's on the inside. If a women covers her entire body a man can't see her, he can explore her mind and search her character. If that happens a wholesome and truly loving relationship is created between the woman and man.

There are not many countries that force their woman to dress modestly. Only a few make them cover the face. There are about 1.5 billion muslims in the world in over 180 countries. Almost none of these countries force the women. The actual wearing of the outer garment and head scarf is not oppressive, the act of not being able to choose is. If america forced me to take off my scarf and loose clothing and made me dress in tight revealing immodest clothes, I would be extremely oppressed. According to Islam, men and women must dress and behave modestly. Men must respect women, not boast, not walk around shirtless, and not treat women as a peice of meat. Thats how men are modest. Women have more beautiful physical attributes and the men have a different mind and feelings that women do not have. Women display their modesty and show that they are to be respected by wearing long loose clothing and saving their beauty for someone she chooses. Hair is a beautiful thing on a woman. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be a billion dollar industry. As for the coering the face, some women feel more comfortable covering their lips when they have makeup on. I know my friend does. Islamically, you don't need to cover your nose or hands.

Oh, by the way, there aren't even 120 middle eastern countries

Yes and no...... In Islam, a woman should only show her beauty to her husband and even though it is a choice in some countries it is not a choice in others. (It is also believed that a woman is so beautiful, that if they were to walk around uncovered then men wouldn't get any work done!) Even if it is a choice, most will wear it out of tradition and fear of social judgment. That is like saying western women wear shirts by choice. In some African tribes women don't wear shirts but American women (myself included) wouldn't dare walk around without a shirt on..... Even if I was in their culture, because I wasn't raised to be comfortable that way. Perhaps Muslim women would feel "naked" without it. One belief is that a man should be able to tell a woman's beauty by her hands and/or eyes. Another question could be "Are American Women oppressed by conforming and wearing make-up, carefully styled hair, and/or high heels?" I spend an hour everyday getting ready to face the world because that is what I have been taught looks good. In this regard covering would free a woman from the unrealistic social demand to be physically perfect. There isn't one answer.

It used to be that way. But as the newer generations of Muslim women are growing up, they are being given the choice to wear or not to wear the burkha and more are choosing to wear it. By principle, it is a matter of preservation and honor of the family. And because these women choose to wear the burkha they affirm their belief in these values. So, it really should not be looked on as oppression.

Depends on point of view. Muslim women would say American women are oppressed because we feel the need to show skin. It's all perspective.

possibly it relatively is. in some unspecified time interior the destiny a united states might take place the prefer to maintain its custom that is going against the grain. i think of the reason of the fact is obvious and all cultural manifestations of the Islamic worldwide at the instant are not being welcomed with open hands. I say honest sufficient. The Muslim worldwide supplies many countries with opportunities to stay in a society the place the burkah is welcomed or enforced. shouldn't me seek for to maintain the cultural integrity of all cultures with the help of insuring all of them have a house the place they are able to stay between human beings of their very own custom? i assume the respond given with the help of "multiculturalism" is that it relatively is terrific to combine all of them up and watch them combat like cats in a sack.

Muslim women are not required to wear burqas. They are only required to dress modestly and cover their heads. The women who wear burqas are not only being oppressed but they are doing something that is unislamic.
