My mother-in-law recently reduced from a 44-H to a 44-B. They took four pounds off of each breast...talk about a transformation! However, she began smoking again about a month after the surgery which slowed the healing process and caused her to lose sensation in her nipples and it also slowed the "fill-out" of her breasts. Don't smoke, it constricts blood vessels that transport 'food' to the healing parts of the body. She also went back on her diet too soon after surgery. Your body needs food for energy and it takes a lot of energy to heal after a surgery like this. DON'T diet for a while afterwards. Your body uses a lot of protein to heal too, so eat lots of it. Peanuts and meats are a great source of protein. And even though you may not like what you see for a few weeks (swelling, bruises, etc.), keep looking because you will have breasts again that you love. Good Luck!

Breast reduction is major surgery. 3 weeks should be a good amount of time to recover before returning to school usually you can return to moderate exercise in 4 weeks, so as long as school is for learning non physical things, you should have a healthy recovery. I think the worst part of the recovery was wearing the compression bra for so long. The pain was worth the end result of less back pain. Good luck and congratulations on your decision to go through with it. It took me 4 years after my initial consultation to go through with it!!

I had the surgery almost 10 years ago, so the information may be a bit dated...my recovery took about 2 weeks, but honestly, I felt fine within 3 days, and stopped taking the pain pills after about 3 days. I lost 4 pounds from the surgery itself, and it has worked wonders on my self esteem. I have lost sensation in my breasts, and am unable to breastfeed exclusively (so be sure to ask your doctor about preserving as much of that tissue as they can-- it may not be important now, but it may be later), but again, the surgery was 10 years ago... they've made major strides towards keeping things intact. Good luck, and I hope it helps you as much as it helped me... totally worth any pain.

Good for you! I wish I had had that surgery when I was younger. Here is what one doctor says about recovery:
Getting back to normal
Although you may be up and about in a day or two, your breasts may still ache occasionally for a couple of weeks. You should avoid lifting or pushing anything heavy for three or four weeks.
Most women can return to work (if it's not too strenuous) and social activities in about two weeks. But you'll have much less stamina for several weeks, and should limit your exercises to stretching, bending, and swimming until your energy level returns. You'll also need a good athletic bra for support.
Good luck.

Well, like any surgery it has it's risks but everyone I have spoken too has absoltely no regrets after having it done. If you breasts are so large that it's uncomfortable to do anything, including excercise and you are getting unwanted attention I would suggest it! You may be much happier person afterwards...I have a friend who had this procedure and she says it was the best decision she'd ever made in her life! :)

I have longed for breast reduction surgery, I am 5*5 and a 46dd. I was all up for it and brought home a video to watch from the doctors, well after watching nipples being removed, I have not been able to bring myself to have it. I admire your strength, good luck.

Breast Reduction surgery has become very common now. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
Many patients travel from United States of America and UK to get low cost surgery in India. Indian corporate hospitals are comparable to hospitals anywhere in the world. In fact, India has medical facilities that are comparable with the USA, UK and Canada. India offers World Class Medical Facilities, comparable with any of the western countries. India has state of the art Hospitals and the best medical experts. With the best infrastructure, the best possible Medical facilities, accompanied with the most competitive prices, you can get the treatment done in India at the lowest prices.
