Start budgeting now. First you need money for moving expenses, look for an apartment and be prepared to pay first month rent and security. After moving list the necessity and non necessities that should help you manage a sensible budget plan.

You forgot your heating bill. If you live in colder states, this could be a lot. Also, if you want cable TV it is expensive, but that is not a necessity.

You may also pay a water bill. This is minimal in the Northeast where I live, but may be more in drier areas.

Remember, when you first move into an apartment the landlords often require first AND last month's rent, plus a security deposit. 300-500 seems very low, but is possible depending on where you live. Check rent.com for average rates in your area.

Depends on where you plan on living, because
an apartment alone can run from 375 to 1200
per month. I would imagine to live comfortably
you would need about 1500 minimum to
cover expenses, that is monthly of course.
