Fear.
Everything we do comes from one of two sources. Fear or Love. Meditate on this and you will see how true it is. Nearly every negative emotion we have is rooted in fear.
Now, to illustrate how fear contributes to the injustice in the world I'll give you a few examples. A whole thread could spawn from this one idea, but to be brief:
Many people in power engage in the pursuit of power because of a fear of loss. Without exerting their control, they believe everything would be chaos. In a state of chaos they wonder how peace and harmony can exist. The problem is that the weilders of power get caught up in urges that are all but irresistable. Thier fear is pervasive in society. We willingly give up our freedoms and human dignity when we are bombarded with fearful propaganda. We actually limit ourselves! It is less that this is being pushed upon us than it is that we accept it and live in that fear. You've heard the old adage, "Absolute power corrupts, absolutely."
Willful ignorance is rooted in fear. This state of mind is far too common in we Americans today. This contributes to the way we remain complacent when we DO see injustice. We consume with reckless abandon with no thought of our impact on the beautiful world we live in. That to maintain this lifestyle of comfort requires us to be responsible not fearful of losing it.
Intolerance is clearly fear in one of it's most disgusting forms. This is what polarizes us, weakens our society, limits our potential as a species. This is at the heart of nearly every war, every act of aggression. Which begins a horrific cycle of violence. Aggression begets aggression.
I could go on, but you get the picture. I appreciate a previous poster's comments on education. It is very important to our own development as individuals in the modern world. It is also essential to the success of our country in a competitive global market. However, structured, institutional education is not necessary to the human experience. We do not learn to be happy from reading books, although it is a powerful tool. Many Native American cultures for example, lived quite peacefully and harmoniously without schools or even books. Bob Marley said, "If I'ws an educated mon, I'd be a dahm fool." This illustrates that we can live soulfully, intuitively, and creatively without a great deal of education.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading my rather long winded explanation. Love and blessings to you all.

The biggest injustice is that we see everyone in relation to their body Race, color, nationality, gender, religion, job, etc. When we are not these bodies, we are pure spirit soul, part and parcel to the Supreme Soul also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Rama, Vishnu etc. We are all related and all come from the same God no matter what ones belief is. So we do not see things as they are which causes us to commit so many injustices to others. If we all saw things as they actually are (on the spiritual platform) then there would be no injustices. Read Bhagavad- Gita As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada and understand reality.

In today's world it is the power of the almighty dollar. It far exceeds any other injustice because it is the root cause of most (if not all) of the others. Example: If Darfur had oil thousands of lives would be saved because we would be there to stop the genocide. Racism, social discrimination, and sexism are ultimately caused my the majority wanting to have control of the resources.

The biggest injustice is the failure to provide education for millions of people who can’t provide it themselves. The whole of human history has been about the great successes of a few, allied to the denial of the chance to realise their potential to millions, and education is the vehicle by which people can realise their potential.
