It's all about the money. If they admit there is a problem, they might have to do something about it, like, God forbid, stop making Hummers! And what about all the big businesses that would have to clean up their pollution, Exxon would actually have to be responsible for their oil spills. General Motors would have to admit to all the patents they buried trying to stop the electric car. To answer your question, the honest truth, the undeniable fact is 'They Don't Care'!

Because in order to get average people to believe in something as a deadly serious as Global Warming they need more than a boring Gore slide show. They need dramatic proof. Not a glacier receding, not drowning polar bear. They need to see ten Katrina Hurricanes in a row every season, five year Midwest drought, & South Florida sinking into the Atlantic. Then people will start taking Global Warming seriously but until that happens, the more liberals whine the less people will listen.

For those of you that believe in global warming, I think that you should maybe get your facts straight. First of all, the Earth has just recently ended its last ice age. Sure, you say that was ten thousand years ago, and you say that that was too long ago to have any effect today. If, however, you know anything about the Earth you know that it has been around for more than four billion years. It has continuosly gone through cycles of warming and cooling, and we are currently in the warming cycle. Second, if you think that the current President has any power whatsoever over the weather, you are an idiot. And if you think the President has any power to pass legislation to switch over to alternative fuels and stop burning gasoline and diesel in our cars, you are sadly mistaken. The President has no power whatsoever to propose and pass any legislation; that is done by Congress. The President merely aproves legislation, and even then that decision can be overridden by Congress due to the checks and balances system. So why don't you go to school, take some classes, and learn how the Earth and our government both work.

What's obvious? There's a reasonable likelihood ("reasonable" not being the most scientific of terms), but temperature records are most scanty. The bulk of the evidence is in analysis of some gas pockets in a few Antarctic ice samples that imply a causality that's sensible but not proven. And there's no doubt that swings of temperature are normal. Most people who work in advanced areas of science have seen tons of perfectly sensible-looking things in their specific fields turn out to be wrong. This is the rule, not the exception, in science. And there's no way science can run an experiment that closely duplicates the hypothesis to test it; that is, science can't tell us if it's true. The implications are serious enough that I believe we should take reasonable precautions, but that means my worry level equates to an acceptance of percentages that I wouldn't under other circumstances.

I believe it is happening, but it began long before all the reasons Algore gives. The climate changes all the time, I don't think there is anything we can do to stop it. When it became noticeable, automobiles were few and far between. Aerosol wasn't invented. And the list goes on and on.
Did you know that in 1975 science was all concerned about global cooling and believed the only way to stop it was to melt the ice cap?

Dramaqueen you need to do a little more reading besides headlines. Global warming and cooling has been going for million of years one of the things that affect our planet is increase solar activities which has intensify in the last 12 years that could explain why the ice cap on Mars is melting,(Sorry Al Gore can't blame that on us) most of this talk about global warming is all emotional we have the ability to control global warming about as much as we have the ability to control hurricanes.

Ha! When will people realize there nothing we CAN do about it, unless we can push Earth further away from the sun. Earth is slowly being pulled into the sun by it's immense gravity. Only to burn if we not hit by an Asteroid first. That why they use propaganda to lead people to believe we can fix this and it caused by things here on Earth, so, people not freak out knowing we all going to Burn! But, heck this a very long time away. We all die of old age and disease first. There more and more incurable disease all time time. People are going extinct.

You need facts to back up your mouth. The countries that are contributing the most to so called global warming are Japan and China and they are refusing without argument to do anything about it. Then you have South America selling off their rain forests who are not willing to listen to reason. To top it off I've been reading all the latest research on this and most scientists are stating it isn't even happening that our world is actually colder now than it was 60 yrs ago. So genius, whats your solution besides blaming it on Bush?

Because they believe they will be dead by the time it actually happens. If they would open their eyes and their minds they would notice that it is already starting to take place.

Because they can't stand the idea that Al Gore might be right about something. It's political and has nothing to do with science.
