From a doctor's perspective:
The official ACOG and ASCCP guidelines say age 21 or when you start having intercourse, whichever comes first. Your first Pap smear is age 21 or 3 years after you start having intercourse, whichever comes first.
The exception would be the girl who isn't sexually active but has some gyn problem that needs a doctor's attention.

I was always told that every woman should go regularly once they turn 18, unless they start having sex before then. I started going when I was 18 and I also started having sex at that age as well.

I was 16, but I only went because I was having some problems and I haven't been back since. I know I should go, though!

I didn't have sex until I was 21 and married so that's when I started going.

I think when you start having sex is when you should go....or by the time you're 21 which ever comes first.
