I have irregular periods for ex: i started oct.2-7, then i didnt start till Dec. 6th. My cycle always takes that long and always last 5 days. I was just wondering can i still conceive with irregular periods like this. Also how can i regulate my cycle without birth control??

To answer your question, yes, you can become pregnant even if you have irregular menstrual cycles. Many women have irregular cycles and many of them become pregnant. However, if trying to conceive, it may be more difficult (and take longer) if you have irregular cycles.

However, you indicate that your "cycle always takes that long and always lasts 5 days." So it sounds like your cycle is in fact very regular, albeit not of the textbook 28-day variety. Nonetheless (and even if you had a "regular" cycle) if you're trying to conceive you'll want to figure out when you ovulate. That your cycle is, in fact, regular (just long) suggests to me that you probably do ovulate, and ovulate regularly. But that's something for you to figure out either with ovulation kits, monitors, or the more simple method of charting (basal body temperature and other bodily signs). A good book for points of reference for that is Taking Charge of Your Own Fertility, by Toni Weschler, if you want to go that route.

I don't really know much about regulating your cycle without using hormones (birth control), but I think that would depend on why your cycles are as long as they are to begin with. I don't know what you can do that doesn't involve drugs to move up your ovulation date each cycle.

Your cycle is always that long? Like, you might not have your period again until Feb? Some women have really long cycles. Mine is give or take, about 40 days.

If your natural cycle is long, i wouldnt worry about it so long as your period is predictable.

ive gotten pregnant twice with a super long cycle. Something doctors INSISTED needed to be regulated. Its bull crap they use to sell prescriptions and medical visits. You dont always need chemicals to control your body.

I'd try ovulation tests first, you can pick up 100 of them for 30-40 bucks on ebay, that would give you about two cycles to test through and see when and if you're ovulating.

Yes, you can still conceive. I have had irregular periods for as long as I've had my period. It took my fiance and I over 2 years to conceive our son and we did it without anything. Then when we decided to try for #2 we tried ovulex. Of course, I got checked out by my doctor to be sure everything would be ok. The day after I took it I had my period. I am now pregnant again. So, yes you can conceive without anything but if you don't want to play the guessing game then I would try Ovulex. It worked for us. Good luck with everything!

If you are not having periods, you are not ovulating. You need to get a regular cycle going. Most times birth control pills will start your periods if you are not getting them. I would indeed take the vitamines, they are good for you. But the first thing I would do is go to another doctor. Ask them about starting you on some birth control pills. Oh and the vitamines will not make you gain weight.

Oh yes.... my cycle was crazy, changed every month and I got pregnant on the first try. I never figured out when I was ovulating either. So it is certainly possible. I dunno about the BC to regulate it. I know they do that but you would have to ask your doctor.

yes it is still very possible and don't listen to anyone that says it's not. some women ovulate and don't have a period at all. you need to see your doctor and they can check you out to make sure everything is ok and to see if you are ovulating. if your not don't panic cause there are many ways to make it happen...they just have to find out what's going on.
