It your usb port ever did work properly you could do this.
You could try the System Restore which takes you back to a time when your computer was working good. Go To:
start
programs
accessories
systems tools
system restore
This process is completely reversable. And does not remove your personal files. Just go back one checkpoint at a time until your puter is working good again.
You may need to reinstall any recent software programs, but it is a quick fix when you dont know what else to do.

.
This seems to be a case of a corrupted driver for your USB port.

You need to go to the USB manufacturer online and download a fresh driver.
a. To determine the manufacturer
look in your Device Manager section.
b. Go to START > RIGHT click MyComputer >
select PROPERTIES >
c. tab for HARDWARE > click button for Device Manager
d. In Device Manager, scroll down to your
Universal Serial Bus Controllers > click + to open >
double click the USB port and get the name of the manufacturer.
e. Go online to the manufacturer site > find DRIVERS
f. Download the driver you need to your desktop.

2. Go to your desktop, find the driver, double click and INSTALL the driver.

3. Restart your computer > it will "see" the new driver and may ask you if you want to use it
instead of the one you have...say YES.

First put in your Windows CD, and specify to browse that CD: ie. D:\ (whatever your CDROM drive letter is). No dice, ok. There is a free program called Advanced Windows Care that might fix your problem. Last options I can think of is do a System Restore. Click on Start, choose Accessories, then System Tools, and the last item System Restore. It has a wizard that list dates of snapshots of last known good configurations. Choose a close date of when you didn't have problems. Best of luck.

Your plug and play USB divers are corrupted. Now your PC doesn't recognize your USB ports. These are critical files. Try to re-install the files or try to repair or re-install windows. Also before re-installing check the motherboard drivers for USB ports. Hope it will answer the question.
