I have been reading "Psychic Development for Beginners" by William W. Hewitt. I have been diligently doing all of the exercises and things have been starting to happen. One of them is... We just started having an entity(s) in our home. My 9 year old cat, who usually sleeps all day just started running non-stop, playing all day & night for the past 4 days. My 15 month old keeps pointing in the corner of his room saying hi, hi, bye, and follows aroun the room with his finger. He wont sleep at all (he is usually great about his 3 naps a day and all night sleeping), for the past 4 days.
The presence does not feel negative at all.
I want to know how I can maybe contact it/them and/or how to remove it/them. I heard about smudging. Thanks so much

For all of you negative skeptics/non-believers, critics, synics, etc. grow up. When somebody asks a serious question they deserve a serious answer, one without synical or demeaning remarks about their problem. If you haven't got anything helpful to say then why bother saying anything at all? One simple fact that is true for all topics large or small, "Belief or disbelief in something does not prove nor disprove that something, nor does it alter the facts in reguards to that something."
Now to the question at hand. If you want the entity to buggar off politely ask it to leave. If it won't leave then get a priest or local clergy to come by your house and cleans it spiritally. The problem with Psychic Development is that it does attract entities. You should learn to project a strong sense of don't call me I'll call you if you don't want to be bothered by these entities.
If you want to contact them there is the Quija board, but I don't recomend it as every Quija has its own set of dangers. Beginers should never use one alone. A safer method would be to take a pen and some paper, and concentrait on the entity you want to contact and ask it questions. Allow you hand with the pen to move freely on the paper. If you are successful the entity will write the answers down using your hand.
If you don't think it's a negative presense just tell it outloud that it is disrupting your home and ask it to stop. Becareful beginers are easy targets for bad entities.

"Entities" are superstitious delusions which you need to get over. The purpose of this author's book was to get you to buy it, and you did, so there's your real entity.
Passions Unchained is trying to make a very invalid comparison between paranormal "research" and real science. The results of all paranormal "research" have been completely negative - there's *nothing there* folks, and Elvis is dead too, so get over it already.
And P.U. needs to hear the news flash that evolution is a *fact." Evoutionary theory is an explanation of how the *fact* of evolution happened and is happening - the scientific sense of the word "theory" doesn't have the same meaning as the vernacular "educated guess." Are you prepared to claim that the theories of gravity, continental drift, relativity, nuclear physics, etc are all just guesses? Evolution is just as real as these other phenomena!
Ikeman, defending reason against unreason is not "negative!" Where do you people get the gall to insist that your beliefs, based on nothing but emotion, fear and overwrought imaginations, have the same standing as hard-won information about the real world, done by people who want to know how things *really* are?! Believing in something doesn't make it true, especially when your beliefs contradict well-established observations about how the world works. If you want your dearly-held fantasies to be *real* you must allow them to be *tested.* If not, you are absolutely close-minded in your beliefs, because you are not willing - as every scientist and rational person in the world is - to admit that YOU MIGHT BE WRONG!!
And the word that you love to confuse with 'skeptic' is spelled 'cynic.' Get a dictionary along with your first science book.

Ignore it. It will go away.
And stop trying to contact them as you might attract unwanted attention.
If it would make you feel better, and you want to do a smudge to cleanse the house, just burn some sage, cedar, or juniper in the house.
If you want to use sage and can't find sage bundles you can use the sage you find in the spices at the supermarket. Just put it in a cast iron pan and cook it on top of the stove, or burn it wrapped in a piece of paper.
-Be careful not to burn down your house
-Or you might also see if you could find some sage incense

Finding a mold that it black in a basement is normal. What you need to do first, before you spend TONS of money, is to buy a $30 test kit and see what type of mold you have. Bleach will clean up 99.9% of mold very efficiently, and costs about $2.

Personally, I feel it has every right to be in the science category. Setting my personal beliefs aside, the study and belief in the paranormal has as much integrity as the study and belief in the theory of evolution. Both are nothing more than theories with no supporting facts whatsoever to validate them. Now, to address the question. If the presence does not feel negative, then perhaps it would be best not to try and contact nor remove it. From what others have said that do believe in the paranormal, if you risk agitating the presence, it may manifest itself and become a threat.

This entity is an energy.First YOU must ground yourself. Then you must ground your house.Keep running this energy. Then while in this mediatative state, put a rose in front of you and put the energy of this entity in the rose. Then BLOW the rose up! Do this over and over again. Then send this energy down your grounding cord.

You probably just need to buy a mouse trap. Any fool that thinks evolution has no supporting facts needs to get an education.

Removing is easy. There, they are gone.
Entities do NOT exist.
(And stop reading garbage like that.)
(Does anyone know how to contact Yahoo answer management? This category has NO place being in "science")
