I can make do with an electric but with the acoustic on the other hand I am particularly stuck trying to withdraw the string from the bottom, from where one strums the guitar. Help?

my guitar has removable pegs. i just pry them off with my fingers or VERY GENTLY with some light nedlenose pliers. also you might try a local music store...often times they will changes the strings for a small or no fee if you buy the strings there.

Carefully pull out the pin which holds the string to the bridge. Pull perpendicular to the top of the guitar.

If you can't pull with your hands, follow these directions carefully:
1) Wrap with a soft cloth the jaws of a par of general purpose pliers.
2) Grip the head of the pin gently but firmly with the head of the wrapped plier jaws.
3) Gently apply rotation back and forth (five degrees max.) while applying firm pull tension on the pin.
4) Should pop right out.

DO NOT SQUEEZE TOO HARD ON THE PIN, YOU WILL CRUSH IT. DO NOT ROTATE TOO FAR OR YOU WILL CRACK THE BRIDGE.

Normally it's a pin that holds the ball end in (if it's steel string). You'll see the roundish looking head of it , just pull up with your fingers till it comes out , you may have to twist it a bit if too tight , tighter than that and you may need to use something like the edge of a heavy guitar pick and pry a bit.
