My favorite Geoffrey Rush movie has GOT to be House on Haunted Hill. Ok, the film in itself was kinda cheesy, but with supporters like Chris Kattan, Famke Jannsen, Taye Diggs...well Geoffrey really did a good job with this role. And WOW did he play a good "bad guy", even though he wasnt all that bad, just fed up with a lying cheating wife. I loved Lisa Loeb's little cameo at the beginning of the movie when she interviews Geoffrey's character (Steven) and he takes her on that elevator ride. When she panics and freaks, then realizes it was JUST a ride, he laughs, and says something like "fun, aint it?" CLASSIC!
Funny thing, I didnt even know he wasnt an American until I saw him on a talk show and heard his true voice. Blew me away.
In reply to the previous answers, I DID like Pirates as well, but HOHH was much more sinister and really showcased his range.
