You probably do have odd. Well from your description you definitely do. I was recently diagnosed and it took me ten years to get up the guts to see a psych about it. It doesn't go away on it's own and to get meds you'll need to talk to a doctor about it. Really you'll need talk therapy along with medication. You can start by telling your gp who can prescribe meds and refer you to someone to talk to. Trust me, it won't go away on it's own. You've got to be brave and talk to people before it gets worse. I was really embarrassed but none of the healthcare professionals I spoke to were remotely shocked. It's an illness and that's what they do, treat illness. So please talk to someone.

i'm bipolar. but ocd isn't necessarily associated with depression. and yes, you (probably) do have ocd. see a shrink if it's becoming a real problem. otherwise just accept it and learn to keep it under control. good luck!!
and yes it is very common.

OCD is not terribly common. It is not a symptom of depression, it is an anxiety disorder. People with OCD do get depressed. The checking and hand washing routines are common symptoms of OCD. Have you seen the movie "As Good as it Gets" ? Jack Nicholson does an excellent portrayal of someone with OCD. Good meds are Prozac, Luvox, or Effexor.
