Here is the correct answer:
The prefix Giga means 1 billion.
The prefix Mega means 1 million.
Therefore there are 1000 Mega- in 1 Giga-
HOWEVER!!!!!!!!
When dealing with computers, it is a different system. Computers, or more specifically operating systems, work in bits and bytes. There are 8 bits in one byte. There are 1024 bytes in 1 kilobyte. This is why you always hear the numbers 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 when you hear about computer specs.
SO
When talking about hard drive capacity, for instance, a hard drive manufacturer will say 100 Gigabytes and they will mean 1 billions bytes. However, when the operating system looks at these billion bytes, it counts it as 1 billion bytes, but 1 billion bytes is NOT 1 Gigabyte for the computer. The computer calls a Gigabyte 1073741824 bytes (1024*1024*1024), so the 100 Gigabyte hard drive will be recognized by the computer as a ~93.1 Gigabyte hard drive.

That depends on if you are talking to a computer professional or a marketing pro. The computer professional will tell you that a true GB contains 1024 MB of data while the marketing pro who is trying to sell you the latest computer will tell you that there are 1000 GB in a MB, thereby allowing them to say there are actually more GB then is conventionally known.

It's not like standard math cause we are dealing with binary (base 2) not decimal (base 10).
4 bits = a nibble
8 bits = a byte
1024 byts = 2^10 = 1Kbyte which is the closes to 1000
1024 KB = 1MB
1024 MB = 1GB
1024 GB = 1TB (Tera Byte)

It should equal to 1000MB but, is actually 1024.
On the harddrive or flash drive however, it is less than 1000 (not sure what exactly, may be 984?).

1024MB = 1GB. As computers work on binary code, the memory size will be a power of 2. But for convenience's sake, we usually say 1000MB =1 GB :P
