do they give you the vaccine in your arm? if you'e had sexual contact with a few guys does that increase your chance? I'm so scared...cancer runs in the family and when my mom talked to me about it..it crushed me. I had sex for the first time when I was 15...like I said I'm almost 20. My mom said the doctor said that after 3 years without having the vaccine or getting a pap ..if i do have it...it could spread and i could die... :'-( Thats what scares me the most

I don't have HPV, but a couple of my friends do. I also had an abnormal pap once or twice and so I was tested for HPV, but luckily my tests came back normal. But yes, HPV sounds scary but it's nothing to get yourself seriously worked up over. But yes, if you've had more sexual partners you're more likely to contract HPV. If you get your yearly paps, you should be fine. If you happen to get an abnormal pap, your doctors will have you go in for a pap every 6 months to monitor your cells. And don't worry about getting a pap. It's really not that bad. It's quite simple and quick.

Anyway, I'm sure you can contact your local health provider and ask them about it. If they don't have it I'm sure they'll be able to direct you to another doctor. I'm not sure where they inject you at. I'm guessing the arm or the butt like most shots.

Also, most people don't realize that you can contract HPV with or without condoms. This infection is transmitted through genital contact and not just intercourse.

But you'll be ok. Just take a few deep breaths and when you get to the doctor and go through it all you will see there was nothing to stress yourself out so bad over. You'll be happy you did it in the end.

You need to get a PAP. You should get one every year after you become sexually active or every year after you turn 18. HPV is not so serious you can die right away, but if not treated you can get unsightly warts (depending on what kind of strain you contract) or yes, possibly get cervical cancer. A PAP will check for abnormal cells. Get the vaccine, it's a good idea whether you have HPV or not. It's a series of three shots, but I don't know where they give the shots at. so think about it, 3 shots or possible cancer??? Come on....

A pap smear is a procedure that tests for HPV. HPV is the leading cause of cervical cancer in women. Cervical cancer is not common, though, so don't stress much about it. HPV, on the other hand, is very common, affecting 80% of women by age 50. Your chances of having HPV greatly increase if you've had more than one partner. The HPV vacc is very new. It helps prevent the strains of HPV that are linked to cervical cancer.

It really isn't a big deal, so don't worry about it. Just practice safe sex, and keep your sexual partners limited. Also, make sure each partner is tested.

I have HPV the strand that causes cervical cancer. Don't be scared alot of women have it. As long as you keep up on your paps yearly you will be ok. You should be able to get the vaccine from your gyneocologist. Everything will be alright, don't worry your self to death.
