I may get a job in Birmingham Al, not knowing the area I'd like to know what zipcodes or neighborhoods to avoid

I took the liberty of looking at your profile to get a feel for your personality. You seem to have a lot of eclectic interests. If so, you might want to consider the Southside/Forest Park section of Birmingham. It's very diverse, really safe, and in the middle of everything. Plus there are a wide range of various interests.

Otherwise, I'd offer Homewood or Mountain Brook.

You'll get no answers from Realtors, that is called "Redlining" and it's a Federal Offense. Not knowing your personal like and dislikes, it would be impossible for anyone to tell you.

Drive through some neighborhoods, look at the schools (if that's an issue). I even had a client once just walk down the sidewalks of a few towns and chose the one that was the friendliest. You can tell a neighborhood by the people and the houses.

YOU are the one who will be living there, do you own homework. Merry Christmas!
