Pedophilia refers to an abnormal attraction to children regardless of gender. Most pedophiles do not concider the gender of their victims at all, they don't see their victims as having a gender.
The gender of a pedophile's victim usually stems from what the pedophile has access to.
The reality is that little girls are FOUR TIMES more likely to be molested, usually by someone THEY KNOW, than are boys even by strangers.
We don't hear about the hundreds more little girls who are molested because it's not sensational enough for trash journalism!

Statistically, about 96% of children who are molested are molested by male pedophiles who live an outwardly straight life style. That is, they may be married to a woman and their adult relationships are with women. Half of all of these men are known to the children they molest - they are their fathers, cousins, brothers, neighbors, teachers, priests, etc.

The other 4% are molested by women, gay and straight and gay men. All of these people are pedophiles and the gay and straight community shouldn't waste time arguing about who is what. We should be putting our energy into not protecting any kind of pedophile. That means not covering up for people in positions of power or family members. It means confronting schools and churches that move their 'problem children' from district to district.

Although many people think that homosexuals and pedophiles who target boys are similar, they are actually quite distinct characters.

You may read in the papers about incidents of "homosexual molestation." Actually, this term does NOT refer to molestation by a true homosexual, but rather a pedophile who was of the same sex as the victim. Big difference. (Oddly, they do not call it "heterosexual molestation" when the genders of the perpetrator and the victim are dissimilar.)

Gay men tend to be attracted to adult - or teenaged, if you're like Mark Foley - partners with characteristics indicative of post-pubsecent masculine sexual development.

Pedophiles, on the other hand, are after pre-pubescent victims. Those who focus on males tend to select targets who have yet to develop masculine sexual characteristics. You could even say their victims still have have a somewhat "feminized" quality to them.

So... perhaps the sexual interests of pedophiles bear a greater resemblance to those of straight men (who also prefer feminized sex objects) than they do to those of homosexual men?

I've read statistics after statistics that all say the the majority of child molesters are straight men. Most likely the priests are straight. Rape isn't usually about the sex.
