You'll get alot of people asking you whats your definition of an "outlaw" country singer and to many people it will be a different answer. The most popular answer will be a non-mainstream country artist that did not have commercial success. So here are some of my favs. Chris LeDoux, he was a professional cowboy for years before becoming a singer "A Cowboy's Gotta Ride". Willie Nelson, the original Texas outlaw "Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground". Jerry Jeff Walker, "I Wanna Go Home With The Armadillos" is hands down his best song.
David Allen Cole, early music was very racist but his best song is "You Never Even Call Me By My Name". Alot of people will say you have to include Johnny Cash and I sort of agree but you need to download "Cocaine Blues" great song. Last but not least is the original outlaw Hank Williams Jr. all of his live songs are great, but download "Family Tradition" studio version. Hope this helps.
