I read the speed drops the farther you are from the BellSouth equipment but how far are they talking about? I suspect I am about 10 miles out and I dont think it is a fiber optics line (unless it is all fiber optics now, I just dont know.)

The truth is, you have slowdown the minute you create ANY distance between you and the last relay. But, ADSL, which is what most homes have, actually have a max range of about 5400 feet (just over a mile).

Ouch that's alot. 10 miles will slow you really bad. Why DSL? Try finding cable company service. It's better and strong signal...
DSL is old now. Cable internet is like 29.99$ and DSL is like 25.99$ and plus CABLE is 100 times better
