If Republicans would actually do that, then many Americans would be proud of them for doing so. As to accepting that we are all God's children, Christians are far from doing that to the Church and Temple down the street, let alone anywhere else. The Gospel has proven to be too great a challenge for far too many of us. It is a laudable sentiment though, and "a fate devoutly to be wished."

What do you mean now? Where I came from it was always the Republicans who stood up for gays. The Mayor of my city in 1972 was a gay Republican.
