I am not sure if I worded the question correctly so let me try again. I want the laptop to be able to use the speed of the processer and larger Hard Drive. Thanks for your answers

You will have to do some network sharing. I assume that you are using Windows, so just tell the system to share the drive with the laptop. There you can read and write files to the PC on your laptop.

If you want to avoid finding the right cable, you can go wireless.

You will need to get a wireless (802.11g) card for your PC, and one for your laptop. Or, for even less trouble, you can get wireless adapters that plug into USB.

The wireless cards alone are enough to make the laptop talk to the computer, but if you find the instructions insufficient or confusing, you can also purchase a wireless access point, which will automatically make things work without having to manually set up things like Network IP addresses.

When things are working right, if you click on "My Network Places" on one computer, you should be able to see the other computer.

Once that is working, in Windows, right click on the disk or folder that you want to share, and there should be a "Sharing..." selection. Set that to share the directory. At that point, if everything is working right, if you go back to "My Network Places" on one computer, and double-click on the other computer, you should be able to see the shared directory.

This gives you an idea of what's involved, so you can decide whether you want to do it or not. If you do, and have a tech-saavy friend to help, it takes about 15 minutes to set up.

Oh yeah - one more thing - I believe there may be a USB-to-USB device that you can buy, if you want to avoid networking completely. I don't know where you can get it, though, and it could be slow.

Actually as long as both your computer and your laptop have a network card just buy a patch cable.. (make sure you look for patch cause it looks JUST like a ethernet cable) and connect them together tada dont even need to set up a home network. Hope that helps.

you can connect both of the computers together using a cross over cable by connecting them at the network port, or get a small hub to use for a network.

because that most of the puzzling drives are of an identical sizes. i visit recommend that you're taking of the puzzling rigidity and inset it into yet another computing device to get admission to it and move your document to a usb device.
