Many animals and objects have been symbols for life in the past.

Gods were often symbols for life or aspects of life. And death too.

In China the crane is a symbol for good health.

The nude male body has often been used as a symbol for life in Western Civilization from the Greek days forward.

The phoenix is also a mythic symbol for life or the regeneration of life.

Blood, the life of an animal is in the blood. When the animal sleeps the blood goes on with its work and will go on until the animal itself stops working. Without blood there would be no animal. Everyone dies at the end of each day. When you sleep it's just like dying and apparently the blood knows no death until you get tired of letting the blood work for you.
