Taking the family to Quebec for a white Christmas. Any tips on what to pack? I live in the SE US currently. Thanks.

If you're spending time outside you'll need warm jackets (wool or quilted), mittens/gloves, scarves and something to keep your ears warm such as hoodies, headbands or hats. You don't need heavy sweaters, etc. Just wear your regular clothing under your warm outerwear. And yes, pack a (pocket) french/english dictionary!

If you're going to play in the snow (building snowmen, tobogganing, etc.) you'll need snowsuits and boots. If not, the streets and sidewalks are kept clear so no need...

Also... you can't count on a white Christmas. You can usually count on a white January, but there are Christmas's without snow. Quebec Winter Carnival (the biggest winter carnival in the world!) will be held from January 26 to February 11, 2007 when we are well into winter with lots of snow.
There would be so many wonderful activities in which your family could take part at that time, if your travel dates are flexible.
Here are details: http://www.carnaval.qc.ca/en/index.asp

Hoping you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.

being that im from quebec, just remember, no shorts, anything else is pretty cool, t shirt/sweater or hoodies/ a jacket is a must, its all about layers there. jeans or thick pants, no chinos. joggin pants, well, i see some peeps wearing them but i always think they are nuts. scarves and hat, like a touque for sure. gloves too... but the most important thing when you go to quebec is a french dictionary and leave room for maple syrup on the way back... thats about it, think warm, really really warm...

Depends where in Quebec, but I would recommend lots of warm clothing. I was there in February and it got down to -25 Celsius easily. Also, there is a lot of snow, so bring boots and snowpants!

I know that Sam's Club sells whole boxes of Twix but I don't know if they have locations in Canada, sorry. But, I think if you go to any place that sells Twix(maybe a drug store), you could just ask the store clerk to sell you an entire unopened box. They should have boxes in the stockroom and would probably be happy to sell one to you. If they give you that "the box isn't marked for sale" stuff, just ask them to scan a Twix bar 36 times(or however many bars is in the box) and you can pay that price. I hope this helps you! :) And I think your girlfriend is quite lucky, I'd love to get a gift like this!

A French dictionary. A nice winter coat. And a camera.
