In Illinois you would be best to check into the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Awesome school for computer science and other technology majors with a large metro area in which to gain valuable experience. UC has a good program as well but IIT is THE program for computer science and engineering in Illinois.

Northwestern or the University of Chicago are probably the two best universities in IL. Both are extremely high ranked in a lot of disciplines, but you would have to look into their computer programs.
But it isn't the reputation of the school that always matters. It is what you do with it. Both of these schools are very expensive, so check out all of your options.
